I have just realised that comparethemeerkat.com is a real website. If you don't already know this then please check it out! It will almost certainly make you smile.
After seeing the recent advertisements for comparethemarket.com on TV, I wondered what would happen if you actually typed in 'meerkat' instead of 'market' and have been meaning to check it out for a while. As i suspected, comparethemeerkat.com is a site owned by compare the market, which gives a direct link the the car insurance site. However, it doesn't end there. As well as the links and direct references to compare the market, you also get an introduction to Alexsandr the Meerkat and can view various videos of him. He even has his own Facebook and Twitter page. The best bit though, is when you click on the 'compare meerkats' tab and type your requirements in to the search engine...
quite brilliant. Personally I think this is a great bit of advertising (by VCCP), making the brand stand out in a market with very few unique selling points.
